Marketing Intern - Fall Semester

Grand Forks County is seeking a creative and driven Marketing & Communications Intern to help share the story of local government in action.
This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to work directly with county leadership and department heads while building real-world experience in communications, marketing, and public service. The selected candidate will play a key role in developing a social media campaign that highlights the people, services, and impact of Grand Forks County.

Status and hours: Part-time, not benefit eligible for the fall semester. Approximately 20 hours per week with a flexible schedule to accommodate class commitments. This position is not eligible to telecommute.

Key Responsibilities
- Meet with county department heads and staff to understand services and operations
- Conduct interviews and gather content that showcases county employees and programs
- Translate complex government services into clear, engaging messaging for the public
- Develop and execute a social media campaign featuring county departments and employees
- Create written content, graphics, and short-form videos for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn
- Assist in managing and updating county social media accounts
- Monitor engagement metrics and suggest improvements to outreach strategies
- Support additional communications efforts as needed
Qualifications
- Current student at the University of North Dakota (preferred fields: Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Political Science, Public Administration, or related)
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Ability to tell compelling stories and simplify complex topics
- Familiarity with major social media platforms
- Organized, self-motivated, and comfortable engaging with professionals
- Interest in public service or local government
