• Identify and correct topology errors, including overlapping or misaligned parcel polygons
• Redraw parcels that were incorrectly digitized or missing from prior datasets.
• Digitize new parcel splits for the 2026 tax year using legal descriptions, plats, and survey documentation.
• Identify and associate 911 addresses with parcel records to support county operations.
• Assist with reviewing GIS data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
• Document workflows, processes, and data standards to support consistency and future updates.
• Provide general support to department staff as needed.

We are looking for someone who is:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Urban Planning, or a related field at UND.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work with maps, data, and technical information
• Effective communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS) preferred

Throughout your internship, you’ll work closely with county staff and gain exposure to the day-to-day operations that support land records, mapping, and public services, with exposure to public sector GIS operations, and most importantly the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects.
